NORTHWEST'S GASKET COMPANY
What is PORON® foam?
PORON® is a microcellular polyurethane foam that is designed with an open cell structure, allowing it to have greater resilience and longevity, even after multiple impacts. PORON® polyurethanes provide durable, long term performance in gasketing and sealing as well as cushioning and vibration reduction. This material provides an excellent seal that won’t break down with extended use. PORON® foam can replace silicone in many applications and is less expensive. PORON® comes in a variety of colors and can be easily die-cut or water-jet cut and cuts cleanly providing a pleasing appearance that is ideal for applying adhesives to because there is no need for surface preparation.
PORON® foam was used for sealing gaps in the Hubble Space Telescope and is also used to provide cushioning in applications that protect electronics from impact damage. The broad range of PORON® materials covers application needs ranging from very soft to very firm, as well as specialized performance offerings such as enhanced water sealing and impact protection.
These are just some of the characteristics of PORON®:
There are a variety of PORON® foam materials available to choose from that suit a great number of applications ranging from to waterproofing to sealing and gasketing that can work well as a sealant for aircraft and automotive parts.
